WHAT ARE THE ADVANTAGES OF LED?
There is no doubt that the establishment of LED as a credible, mainstream alternative to laser-based print technologies, is due to its ability to meet the unprecedented demand for solutions which can deliver proven return on investment in tough economic times.
In addition there are four key elements that provide LED with advantages High Definition, Environmental, Compact and Reliability. These are fundamental in delivering accurate quality print time after time with minimal impact to the environment. Whilst the reliability and size of the LED Printhead compliments the overall robustness of the printer and in most cases allows the printer to be compact enough to sit on a desktop.
HIGH DEFINITION![]()
Smaller dot sizes create highly accurate output every time. Using multiple numbers of small digital LEDs distributed equally across an array, it is possible to print finely and accurately, even around the edges of the page. ProQ technology alters how long each LED is switched on, resulting in a higher level of detail and greater colour depth. Providing superior images with finer detail. Fast.

ENVIRONMENTAL![]()
The development by OKI Printing Solutions of the proprietary ‘Green ASIC’ technology with its third-generation LED solution shows the central importance of improving energy performance. Deep Sleep mode achieves an unrivalled consumption of less than 1.1 Watts – the equivalent of a small bulb – compared to the stand-by consumption of 5.0 Watts from a conventional printer. Intelligent Eco mode – Automatically adjusts print speed and fuser temperature reducing energy consumption thus lowering costs.
COMPACT![]()
Epitaxial thin film bonding technology is used in Oki LED printheads. This enables the number of chips mounted on a PCB to be reduced by 50% and the wires used to be reduced by 20%, improving printhead productivity.
As only one type of chip is required to mount on a PCB, the printhead size is reduced by half. This enables the LED printer to produce high quality printing within a much smaller chassis. This is especially valuable for SMBs, where office space is at a premium.

RELIABLE![]()
LEDs have fewer moving parts so are ultra reliable. With a life time guarantee digital LED technology avoids the highly complex optical systems and moving parts of a laser-based solution, ensuring a higher level of reliability and minimising the incidence of a malfunction. So reliable they come with printer life guarantee.
